Events are generally the most affordable tapes to edit. The main consideration is to keep it interesting and fresh.
Some tips:
Capture the beginning of the story. The front of the building, people arriving to the game, the billboard.
Get the fan perspective, others that make the event special, silly things other do.
Film at interesting angles and view points.
Limit the zooming in and out. You don't want your audience to get motion sickness.
Don't limit yourself to only filming holidays and main events. Think about filming a special evening out, a dinner party with close friends, flying a kite in the park.
Adding special effect to your event can truly make a difference worth remembering. For instance morphing grade school pictures together for a graduation video.
